Word note / Licence
Check the name in the record.
A licence check starts with a name and the right state board. A badge on a website cannot do that work for you.
For a doctor
State medical boards publish whether a doctor’s licence is current. They also publish records of penalties, restrictions or formal charges over care or conduct. Board information was checked September 17, 2026. Medical-board consumer information
To reach a state medical board’s website, follow its link in the Federation of State Medical Boards’ directory. State medical-board directory
- Get the doctor’s full name along with their licence details.
- Open the website of the medical board for the state you plan to be in when the visit takes place.
- Confirm that the licence is current. Read any listed penalties, restrictions or formal charges.
What does a clean record tell me?
It means the record shows no action taken against the doctor by the board. It does not rate how good the doctor’s care is.
For a pharmacy
A state board of pharmacy handles pharmacy licences, according to information checked September 17, 2026. State pharmacy-board directory
FDA’s licence-search page links to state pharmacy records. FDA’s state pharmacy searches
- Ask which pharmacy would prepare or send the product.
- Search its exact name in your state’s board record.
- Ask about a mismatch before proceeding.
A licence record tells you whether a pharmacy is licensed. It does not tell you whether a particular medicine is being supplied properly.
The product still needs an answer
Having a business registered with the FDA does not mean its medicines have FDA approval, under rules checked September 26, 2026. Federal registration rule
Check the licence and ask whether this exact product may legally be provided. Ask the doctor to explain both in plain words.
